- Fresh blackberries1 cup
- Lemon juice1/2 cup
- Water1 cup
- Sugar1/2 cup
- Cedar plank (untreated)1 small
- Sparkling water2 cups

First, make the cedar-infused simple syrup. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat and add the cedar plank to the syrup. Let it steep for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour, to infuse the syrup with the cedar flavor. The longer it steeps, the stronger the cedar flavor will be. Remove the cedar plank.
In a blender or food processor, combine the fresh blackberries and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
Strain the blackberry-lemon mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds and pulp. Discard the solids.
In a pitcher, combine the cedar-infused simple syrup and the strained blackberry-lemon juice.
Add sparkling water to the pitcher and stir gently to combine.
Serve over ice and garnish with fresh blackberries and lemon slices, if desired.
