  • Vegetable oil2 tablespoons
  • Egg1
  • Sesame seeds2 tablespoons

In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Add warm water and oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions.

Shape each portion into a round roll. Use a sharp knife or a Kaiser roll stamp to make the signature star pattern on top of each roll.

Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
