Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Stir in the beer, cheddar cheese, and chives until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the bread cools, fry the eggs in butter to your liking.
Slice the beer bread and top with a fried egg. Serve warm.
